BA (Hons) Sports Science & Psychology
Irene has been working in the realm of sports and rehabilitation for over 14 years, having entered the physiotherapy profession with a sound background in orthopaedic rehabilitation and exercise prescription. She uses a combination of manual & manipulative techniques, as well as specific functional exercises in her treatment. Irene also practises Acupuncture as an adjunct to her physiotherapy.
Irene has played a major role in setting up & running Pain Management Clinics within the NHS. She has also had experience working for a number of prestigious private clinics in London and in Melbourne, specialising in the management of spinal, joint and muscular pain. A passion for sport has led her to work with running, cycling and triathlon clubs in Australia and in the UK.
As an active participant in triathlons, Irene feels that the treatment of sports injuries is merely a component in the overall care package. She also strives to educate her patients in the prevention of injury as well as encouraging sports specific training in order that her patients may experience efficient, effective & enjoyable participation in their sporting endeavours.
Clinical Pilates forms a major component of Irene’s rehabilitation programmes. She has been using Pilates in her treatment protocols for 8 years. This particular approach to physiotherapy is valuable as a preventative, curative & performance enhancing exercise.
