Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No — you can book directly, whether you are a current patient transitioning from physiotherapy or a new visitor. If you are coming from a physiotherapy treatment with us, your physiotherapist can refer you directly to the Pilates programme.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals. Patients completing post-injury rehabilitation often attend for 8–12 weeks to consolidate their recovery. Those using Pilates for ongoing strength and injury prevention frequently continue on a long-term basis. Your instructor will advise a starting programme at your initial assessment.

Is this different from a regular Pilates class?

Yes — significantly. Our sessions are 1:1, and built around your specific body, injury history, and goals. Unlike a group class, every exercise is chosen, supervised, and progressively adjusted for you. If something is not working or causes discomfort, it is changed immediately. This clinical precision is what makes our approach safe and effective, particularly for those with injuries or post-surgical histories.

Do I need Pilates experience to start?

No prior experience is needed. We begin every programme with a movement assessment, and exercises are introduced progressively from your current starting point. Many of our most successful clients have never done Pilates before.

Can I do this alongside my physiotherapy treatment?

Absolutely — and it is often recommended. Pilates and functional training complement physiotherapy by reinforcing strength, movement control, and body awareness between sessions. Many patients begin Pilates towards the end of their physiotherapy treatment as they transition to self-management and long-term maintenance.
